Nigerian Youths Defy President's Appeal, Vow to Continue Hunger Protests

Despite the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu's appeal for calmness, Nigerian youths have insisted on pressing on with their 10-day planned protest against bad governance in the country. The protests, which began on the 1st of August 2024, have seen thousands of young people take to the streets to demand an end to the crippling economic policies that have led to soaring food prices and commodity costs.

The protesters, who have been peaceful but resolute, say they will not be swayed by the President's call for calmness, insisting that the government must take concrete steps to address the country's economic woes.

"We will not be silenced or intimidated," said Omoyele Sowore, a protest leader. "We will continue to demand good governance and accountability from our leaders. The President's appeal is too little, too late."

The protests have gained widespread support across the country, with many Nigerians expressing frustration with the government's handling of the economy. The hashtag #EndBadGovernance has been trending on social media, with many calling for the government to take immediate action to address the country's challenges.

The government has promised to dialogue with the protesters and address their concerns, but the youths say they will not back down until they see tangible results.

"We want action, not words," said another protester. "We will continue to occupy the streets until our demands are met."

The nationwide protests are expected to continue for the next 10 days, with many expecting the situation to escalate if the government fails to respond to the protesters' demands.

Bishop T.D. Jakes delivered a lecture on leadership with a caged lion on stage

Popular megachurch pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes surprised attendees at his International Pastors & Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., last Friday when he brought a caged lion to emphasize his point that they are like caged lions waiting to break free.
Many praised Jakes' "creative anointing" on social media for the act, but some felt the lion was an unnecessary prop; dismissing it with terms such as "theatrics," "sideshow" and a "distraction."

THE IMPORTANCE OF FORGIVENESS (BISHOP T.D. JAKES)

With his new book Let It Go, Bishop T.D. Jakes’ hope is that people get released from not only unforgiveness but also guilt, shame, and pain.  He says that forgiveness goes against human nature but it’s as necessary as the air we breathe and it is a gift for oneself.  Bishop Jakes also says, “We don’t throw away our pets when they do something wrong or our children when they have a dirty diaper, but we throw away adults every day because they don’t live up to our expectations.”  There is a trend among Christians to forgive little though God gives abundant personal forgiveness.

Pastor Sam Adeyemi on: AGREEMENT IN PRAYER

Mathew 18: 18-20 Jesus taught us that one of the factors which makes prayer effective is agreement. Some people call this the prayer of agreement. When we walk together with others, God’s creativity is unleashed (Genesis 1:26; 11:6). The issue of agreement in prayer is not just a formula. It is much more than the holding of hands when praying or praying about the same prayer points. For us to get heaven to work in our situations, we need to align with the pattern of heaven. It is also important that our prayer points should be in alignment with God’s will (1 John 5:14). Unity is absolutely necessary if corporate prayer is going to be effective. Jesus lets us know that what makes our prayers powerful and effective is His presence; not our eloquence, volume or posture when praying (Matthew 18:20). Agreement in prayer guarantees the presence of Jesus and His presence guarantees miracles.
